Italian Sub-Inspired Sliders

Italian Sub-Inspired Sliders

Italian Sub-Inspired Sliders

I am a sandwich gal through and through, and Italian Sub Sliders are truly my jam. There’s something irresistible about melty cheese, savory deli meats, and soft, buttery bread baked to golden perfection.

I have quite a few slider recipes on my blog already, and honestly, I love them all equally—but these are the ones my family asks for again and again.

Whether you’re hosting game night, a casual dinner, or just want something quick and satisfying, these Italian Sub Sliders check all the boxes. They’re loaded with flavor, easy to prep, and incredibly fun to eat.

Italian Sub-Inspired Sliders

Tips for Making the Best Italian Sub Sliders

You can absolutely customize these sliders to fit your taste. While I love using spicy salami and Kentucky smoked ham, you can easily swap in smoked turkey or roast beef. If you don’t have brioche buns, Hawaiian rolls or even simple dinner rolls work beautifully.

One tip that takes this recipe to the next level? I add a layer of sun-dried tomato pesto, and oh my goodness—it soaks into the bread and creates the most incredible flavor.

It adds a little tang, a little richness, and a big “wow” factor. Top that with a pizza cheese blend, and brush the tops with melted butter mixed with Italian herbs, parsley, and garlic powder.

Baked Zucchini and Beef Boats
Baked Zucchini and Beef Boats

Baked Zucchini and beef boats are oldie but goodie recipe. We can stuff zucchini with so many different ingredients, from chickens to veggie versions but we always come back to beef.

My family really loves these, except for the youngest one because he is not keen on zucchini so I don’t even try to offer him to eat it. On the other hand my husband and I love them!

Baked Zucchini and Beef Boats

What can you use to stuff these:

  • Tuna and create low carb tuna melt.
  • Ground chicken instead of beef, or leftover rotisserie chicken but remove skin and chop it in a small pieces.
  • Vegetarian version; Combine peppers and mushrooms with seasoning and voila, you got yourself veggie zucchini boats.
  • Pizza lovers combo; we love adding salami and olives and creating pizza flavored boats.

You can use any kind of cheese but I love using shredded cheddar or mozzarella, and sometimes mixture of both.

Baked Zucchini and Beef Boats

Baked Zucchini and Beef Boats
Baked Zucchini and Beef Boats are amazing and tasty, and super easy to make. I love stuffing these boats with all kinds of ingredients but my family favorite is ground beef.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Bake Time 25 minutes
Additional Time 15 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 medium Zucchini
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion, powder
  • 1 teaspoon of sea-salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup Cheddar Cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. To prepare zucchini, you should dry them with a paper towel before being placed on a cutting board and cutting each zucchini lengthwise with a sharp knife. Remove the seeds from the zucchini before cutting them into quarters. Scoop out the seeds with a spoon.
  3. Place zucchini on a tray and lightly season each half with salt and pepper, and add a drizzle of olive oil. Place it in the oven and bake for 15 minutes or so, or until they are tender, but still hold their shape.
  4. Meanwhile, sauté ground beef on a generous drizzle of olive oil with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, as well as dried herbs. Always add less salt just to make sure, you can always add a bit more later after the meat is cooked. Remove any extra fat from the meat, then two large eggs to the meat mixture. Allow meat to slightly cool down before adding mixed eggs so they don't turn into scrambled eggs but rather act as a binding ingredient.
  5. Carefully remove zucchini from the oven and stuff equal portions of the mixture into the zucchini boats. Top each with shredded cheese.
  6. Bake between 25 and 30 minutes, until well heated and the cheese starts to bubble.

Notes

You can use ground chicken or perhaps leftover rotisserie chicken.

Movie Night Snack Plates

Entertaining is not my strong suit because I value my peace. You see, I’m a natural introvert as well, so I’ve long since quit forcing myself to attend social gatherings and parties. Or at least a partial one, because while I enjoy going out for lunch or a cup of coffee with my friends, anything larger is not my cup of tea.

That said, I enjoy making these plates for my family or myself when I want to watch a movie.

When I make these delectable platters for movie night, it’s usually a hit.
I prefer to use a team, such as a lox plate, but you can use any ingredients you have on hand. Instead of using a large board, you can use a small “charcuterie” snack dish.

Movie Night Snack Plates

You can also use any type of cracker you choose. I occasionally combine crackers, meats, and, of course, cheeses. However, carrying something you enjoy or have on hand is really adaptable.

If you’re a vegetarian, these are also quite simple. Putting together vegetarian platters is a lot of fun.

I’ve prepared it with sweet peppers, cucumbers, and soft cheeses like cream cheese or goat cheese several times. These would be a great vegetarian low-carb choice.

Crackers, smoked salmon, goat cheese, small cucumbers, cheese cubes, ricotta-stuffed mini peppers with everything except the bagel seasoning, and almonds for added crunch are on my plates.

These are some seriously tasty snack dishes. Don’t you think so? As I previously stated, you are free to mix and match and use whatever you like.

  • 24-30 crackers of your choice
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1 tablespoon everything bagel
  • Decorate with sprigs of fresh rosemary and dill
